Yellen and Summers Spar Over Stimulus

Feb.08 — Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union” television program on Sunday, acknowledged that the mammoth $1.9 trillion U.S. economic relief package poses a risk of too rapid inflation, but said policy makers have the tools to deal with any dangers should they materialize. Her comments came as a number of prominent economists and former policy makers, including Democrat Lawrence Summers, raised questions about the size of the stimulus plan. Bloomberg’s Simon Kennedy reports.
