Punjab, MPCL qualify for 5th National Tray Hockey Championship final

Lahore: Punjab beat PAF while MPCL defeated HEC to qualify for the 5th National Tray Hockey Championship final which is scheduled on Saturday 31st October here at National Hockey Stadium. 

In the first semifinal, Punjab walked over PAF by the lead of 7-3. Zain Ijaz and Hannan Shahid netted two goals each while Amir Ali, Mohsin Hassan, and Arslan Arshad shared a goal apiece for the winning side. PAF’s Abdul Rehman, Mohsin Khan, and Adnan Haider scored a point each.

MPCL dominated over HEC in the second knock-out game where they clinched the match by 4-1 to advance to the final contest. Muhammad Murtaza Yaqoob scored two goals whereas Abdul Rehman, Umair Sattar scored a goal each for MPCL. Sufian was the lone goal scorer from HEC.

With their qualification to the final match, Punjab and MPCL have qualified for the 66th National Senior Hockey Championship which will be played at Mari Petroleum Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park, Rawalpindi from November 5 to 20, 2020.
